    Dana Lyons

Cruising 'cross the USA, taking in the land,

Wider than a cadillac, longer than a van.

Capacity 16 children, 4 tubes of old toothpaste,

Three tanks for the gasoline, two tanks for the waste,

    RV

Mom and dad in the front seat, country on the radio,

Tim and Jim at the table, rock on the stereo,

Sue and Blue in the back seat, trumpet and clarinet,

Sissy's still in the bathroom, Junior's pants are wet.

    RV

Modern cowboys ride in velvet saddles,

On horses made of fiberglass they fly,

Air conditioned covered wagons cross the prairie,

    The pioneering spirit never dies,

    RV

The tenters watch in wonder, the backpacker's afraid,

The rangers take their aspirin, the animals run away,

The truckers see a road block, the wagons see a wall,

The compacts see a mountain, the horses see a stall,

    RV

From Jersey to Miami without stopping,

From Texas to Alaska in one day,

The stories of these heroes will astound you,

The tickets and the tolls they have to pay,

    RV

So if you're out there cruising on a US interstate,

And you see that great white mountain, please make no mistake,

On the road there is no justice, might always makes right,

The suburban yacht is the king of the road and you'd better get that right.
